any DC motor suggestion that have stall torque 10Kg above expect AME motor, coz its speed too slow...
-
10KG!!! are you serious!? :'( oyyy ive never heard of such a thing.
-
really one ...the competiton quite stupid one ...10Kg and 50cm*50cm
quite big and heavy...i need a high torque and speed DC motor ..
-
lol, too slow, high torque is going to be slow, you could try getting two 5 kg motors and have them run the same load.
-
What about motors in washing machines?
-
good point...or a treadmill..theyre fast and can move someone up to 140KG
-
those motors (washing machine, rteadmill) are AC. a powerful dc motor will be something from a wheelchair motor to a windshield wiper motor
-
wheelchair motors are pretty inexpensive if you search on ebay and are very easy to mount
-
first, the motor requirement voltage shall not more than 12v , coz i use mircocontroller to preform the DC motor...
second, the motor shall be high torque and the speed shall be faster than power window..
third, if u all been join competition before, the motor mz be easy to mount.
can i have a sample picture of wheel chair motor? i didnt see it before ...
thanks
-
it doesnt matter if the motor is over 12v. you'd just need a 24v h-dridge or higher if necessary
you cant have torque and speed.
torque, speed, price-. you can only pick 2
or
torque, speed, 12v- pick 2
you can make motor mount easily. just get some flexible metal and clamp it around the motor
wheelchair motor pic- use google (http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLR,GGLR:2006-48,GGLR:en&q=wheelchair+motor&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi)
-
i think i need the torque most, coz the robot 10Kg ...cheap DC motor cannot support it ...that why i need advise from u all, maybe some of you use this kind of motor before..
what flexible metal do u introduce me to use to clamp the shaft??
-
strip of sheet metal.
windshield wiper motor might do for a 10kg robot. others will know more than me about that
-
can u tell me is what kind of metal ? Al ? Cu ?
hmm ..thank for ur advice...i try and use that motor ..
-
aluminum probably no, but any kind of piece of flexible metal about 1/16" thick
heres an interesing link http://www.loganbot.com/bot_tips.html#drive
-
thank guy..i didnt try to use any metal to clamp the shaft and the the wheel...before that, i jz drill a hole between it and lock it...
-
huh? the sheet metal is to mount the motor to the base/frame
-
i cant get ur point lah... any picture to show me ?
-
i cant find one. even though i saw it not too long ago.
hope this helps.
-
is that a brace?
-
picture is side view. green part is the sheet metal i've been discussing. it's supposed to be tight around the motor
-
ohh ok well if it were me i would put a smidch of super glue just for extra hold.
-
it quite a good idea also... i would like to try it if i have chance...
anyway , thanks ...
-
haha was looking through the forum and theer was a thread about a robot.
guess what kind of motor mounts it had ;D

any DC motor suggestion that have stall torque 10Kg above
coz the robot 10Kg
what really shocks me is that not one person has noticed that 10kg is a weight - not a torque!
This is a FAQ question:
http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_faq.shtml#select_motor
All of you really need to read these two tutorials:
http://www.societyofrobots.com/mechanics_statics.shtml
http://www.societyofrobots.com/mechanics_dynamics.shtml
And then use this calculator to determine what motor is good enough for your robot
http://www.societyofrobots.com/RMF_calculator.shtml
Lastly, gan02340765, its a bit difficult to read what you write. Pls dun randomly abbr ur q's. ;)
