Video processing hardware requirements
« on: March 04, 2011, 06:03:37 PM »
Would anyone care to venture a guess for the processing power required to do video processing on an embedded system? Would the Blackfin (camera) specs be a good benchmark?

I'm looking at some ARM-based 32-bit processors from Atmel and STM and they don't seem to offer anything close to the 400MHz Blackfin. Best I can find is around 120MHz.
The only way to top an upright screen, keyboard, and mouse is to eliminate the need for humans to touch a PC at all. Oh, hello there Mr. Robot... what would I like you to do, you ask?
