Title: BigDog gets a biped version: PetMan
Post by: Admin on October 28, 2009, 11:36:40 AM
This is a fairly impressive biped by Boston Dynamics. I'm betting it'll get a loud engine once the tethers are removed.

Its really impressive . . . and makes my biped look lame :'(

Biped robot that balances dynamically using a human-like walking motion. It is a close relative to BigDog, sharing elements of the mechanical design and control. For more info, see http://www.bostondynamics.com/robot_petman.html (http://www.bostondynamics.com/robot_petman.html)

Boston Dynamics never ceases to amaze me. The first time I saw a BigDog video I genuinely had the chills! There other projects are cool too. What strikes me about this new bot and BigDog is how large they are. BigDog is somewhere around the size of a deer or a large gazelle and PetMan here is near human sized, yet Boston Dynamics has done a wonderful job of dealing with all of the problems that arise in larger robots.

Anyone have an educated guess as to the amount of processing power being used here?

Just another step to human obliteration...
But really, this machine is really impressive!

They should sell that as a new type of chassis.
