Axon 1 & Mac Set Up
« on: October 21, 2011, 05:37:33 PM »
I've ordered the Axon 1 & read the UART & bootloader tutorials.

So I'll need a programmer to upload the bootloader once and I'll never need it again.  For mac, is this something that has to be purchased?

I'm trying to make sure that I've purchased everything I need to get started.  I've already made a double motor differential drive vehicle to be controlled by my macbook remotely via webcam.

I'm very new to microprocessors, setting one up with a computer, & programming.

the Axon series come with bootloader pre-installed so you should not need the hardware programmer.

If you have a mac, you'll need to use a virtual machine running Windows XP. Here is more info that can help:

If your VM runs something newer than XP, you can use Mcuber with your bootloader:

As dunk said, the bootloader is already pre-installed so you don't need to buy a programmer.

If you get stuck, let us know. The first time is always a big learning experience :P
