Title: wheels for GM6/GM7
Post by: wil.hamilton on July 31, 2009, 11:27:24 AM
Hey guys, I'm looking into building a bot using either the GM6 or GM7 (they can be found here: http://www.solarbotics.com/motors_accessories/gear_motors/).  However, these GMs have a 2mm output shaft.  Solarbotics (i've also checked hobbyengineering.com, pololu.com and robotshop.us) doesn't carry any wheel specifically for this shaft.  They've recommended using this wheel (http://www.solarbotics.com/products/rw2/) which uses a 3mm shaft and using some 1/8" brass tubing  (say 1/4 of a tube) to shim the shaft along w/ a locking screw.

Has anyone successfully done this?  Or does anyone know of a wheel that fits a 2mm shaft?  Or maybe is designed specifically for this motor?

Thanks in advanced.
