i need to order the PIC16F616 ....

it says I/SL
is it the same as I/P?

SL is the SOIC surface mount package and P is the DIP package.

i can use either right? because i can't find the find an I/P MCU with the same specifications that has a PDIP package....

Hi,

You can't breadboard an SOIC directly - SO = Small Outline, it's a surface mount device.
