my xperia x10 smartphone (with android of course ;D) uses a 1GHZ ARM Snapdragon

If only there was a breakoutboard for it..... (even if just to have a robot controlled by something called a snapdragon)

edit-----

2.5Ghz though.... imagine, facial recognition voice processing, intelligent self modelling etc..., and I would like to coin the phrase "advanced spacial awareness"

In a video of John I saw something like promising a drone oriented Axon... Is that true John???
I mean... com' on... These guys at DYI Drones are good, but not much better!!!

SoR deserves some good drone projects!!!! (Some more to be exact ;-) )

You could always try the random promotional video ads that look cool but give no clue to what it is or what it does. That seems to be the cool way to promote things now.

Whatever it is, can it be more then 8 bits? I'm tired of the rounding issues on my drone.

I've ordered an LPC1343 Cortex-M3... I'm sure that there are Cortexs with higher pin count, but hey just check that it even has an embedded USB client - host!!! (I think at least)

I know a lot of guys here like webbot have been trying hard to make the Axon series look so extremely slick but hey...
An atmega at 8bit - 16MHz, can't be even close to a 32bit - 72Mhz ARM!!!!

Problem is that NXP don't release them with a free IDE (at least not totally free.... you can work out with the Demo for some period, but that's just NOT nice)

I know Atmel has some ARMs around.... But just for compatibility's shake... Wouldn't a Atxmega128A1 come just in handy?
At 8/16bit - 32MHz it would make a deference...

Problem is that you should also teach the world how to use 3.3V instead of 5V... Some servo users wouldn't be so happy with it...

Voltage boosters become more and more common, I see that soon we will all power small robots from a single 3.7V LiPo. For big robots, just use a beefier battery and switching regulators. Many sensors already need 3.3V and soon there will be others.
Check out the uBotino robot controller!

I totally agree that 5V is becoming obsolete... And most modules, especially comms have switched to 3.3V

The problem is that we have 2 years minimum to a complete shift...

Plus some of the 3.3V counter parts don't have that high output capabilities...

Making FET use a necessity at least for now....

Every switch is difficult... especially with 5V being so much time around....

This is scary!
Axon III is going to be more powerful than my computer!
And Admin said "Let there be robots!"
And it was good.
