Futurlec is slow. O-O
« on: April 10, 2010, 11:03:26 PM »
Beware of Futurlec! :o  I didn't realize it would be this slow. So I'm just asking if anyone (if anyone at all) had their products from Futurlec arrive reeeaaaaally slow?

If everyone had thier products slow, BEWARE!
Also Futurlec is an Australian Company.

Yes, how slow do you mean? Around 2 weeks is normal for them because they ship from thailand.

Futurlec is funny.

I once ordered three ATmega640's from them.

They came in a 3 x 2 x 1 foot box.

Well, they don't skimp on shipping, that's for sure!
They are the only parts supplier i order from and are perfect every time.

i have had no problem. It normally takes about 2 weeks for me. If you don't want to wait that long you just have to pay 3 x as much to get it faster.

I haven't had any problem with ridiculous package sizes. When i make a small order they come in a padded envelope with extra padding. It looks as if they have put a lot of thought into the packing.

Definitely email them if it has been 6-7 weeks. Something cant be right.

Email them. I ordered parts from them twice, and every time some parts were out of stock. But instead of telling me so, they waited. After a few week without news I emailed them. I asked them to change my order, they did and shipped everything a few days latter. After that it took ~4 weeks (I live in Canada)

Prices are great, packaging is great but customer service is not so great.

Chelmi.

Yeah...that's been my experience.  If something is not is stock, they wait without telling you.  It can be many weeks.  Now, when I order, I give instructions to cancel any items that are not in stock, and ship the rest.  In that case it usually takes about two weeks.  Otherwise, you can wait for months.  Prices are good though.  --Win

Well, bottom line, if you need to stock up on parts and its not urgent, use futurlec.
Otherwise, your local electronics store should suffice.

Well, that applies for aussies  :D

By the way, I find ebay often cheaper than some stuff at mouser and digikey. Sure it takes 3 weeks to come from china, but the prices are great (LEDs, crystals, usb connectors, etc etc)

Yeah. I remember something about my Dad checking, and they didn't have the parts. I think it just got shipped a few days ago, so I guess I'll just have to wait.

Well at least now I know about it.

Yeah I finally got it!  :)

I think the cause of the delay was, because they were still getting the parts.
Well at least I got it now.  :D

If only I had read this thread first.  :(
Ordered some gear from Futurlec at the start of January. Sent them an email today about my order and was told it will be another 2 to 3 weeks.

If you live in Canada, wouldn't Digikey be a better supplier? They ship from Minnesota. I get all my bare parts from there; have done for many years; I find them a joy to use and their parametric search is the best I've found (still could be improved, but others like Mouser or Newark are worse.)
