Robot Arm selection
« on: March 03, 2009, 11:27:00 AM »
I am starting up a robotics program at a Community College and I would like some advice on Robotic Arms.  I am looking for something to mimic industrial robotic arms with out the cost.  I am looking for an arm that will lift about 1lb. I am also looking for an arm that can be programmed from a PC.  Right now, I am looking at the Lynxmotion AL5D and the Crustwalker SG6-UT or the SG5-UT.  Has anyone used on of these arms?  How is the build quality and / or reliability.   I do not need a remote control system (I have VEX for that), I want to be able to control and program it from the PC.  Any feedback would help

Thanks
