Robot Arm Sources
« on: March 21, 2009, 09:09:17 PM »
Does anyone manufacture robot arms with 5 DOF, a reach of around a foot and a half or so that can lift around a pound for around a couple thousand dollars? The only ones that I've found so far are these 2:

http://strobotics.com/r17.htm
http://www.aai.ca/robots/h_arm.html

The first one is in the $10,000 range and the second is about $22,000.
I've also seen small plastic hobby arms in the $200-$400 range but they are a bit small.

Thanks...Mike

These sites don't actually give force specs so you'd have to calculate them yourself, or email them:

Is your budget above $10k?

Thanks for the links. I've seen the Lynxmotion arm but I hadn't seen the AX-12 arm before. They are both a bit small for what I need. I'm looking for something that is about the size of this arm:

http://strobotics.com/r17.htm

It can lift about 4 and a half pounds and probably has a working radius of about 18 inches but costs about $10,000.

I am looking for something with a similar reach that can lift a pound or so that is in the $2000 price range.

Thanks again for the links.

There aren't any robot arms that I know of between hobby size and professional manufacturing size.

Have you considered buying a hobby one, then replacing servos with stronger ones? Probably would require minor modification.

Yeah, it looks like I'll have to make one. I've looked around quite a bit and didn't see anything like what I needed but thought I would ask around and make sure I didn't overlook something. Thanks a lot for your help!
