Title: peizo film sensor as touch which?
Post by: dmehling on August 28, 2007, 04:03:04 PM
I ran across the following peizo electric film vibration sensor and I wondered if it would work well as a touch sensor?

Also the instructions contained a precaution warning about high voltages and that the signal going to the I/O pins should be clamped, buffered, or filtered in order to maintain proper voltage or current levels.  Should I be concerned about that since I will be connecting it to a microcontroller with a 12 V power supply and a voltage regulator?

well when crystal are squeezed they emit voltage... thats why when you apply voltage, they oscillate.

So I guess you could use it as a touch sensor... even better it could probably measure how hard it was hit based on how many volts are commin out of it...
