Title: pneumatic flipper - Please help
Post by: spartan on September 21, 2008, 01:40:38 PM
right ok, I'm new here so i'm sorry if i've gone wrong somewhere.

Anywho, I joined a robot club at my College, and we're all making combat robots. I want to make one with the weapon of choice a flipper.

I really need help on where to buy the materies, what materials I'll need. Just really as much help as possible.

A step by step guide would be awesome, or even just some friendly tips here and there.

Regards, Shaun.

it doesn't have to be pneumatic, if you have any better/easier ideas, I would love to hear them.

Really, i want to build a combat robot with a flipper. I don't know where/how to start, and I welcome any help you can throw my way.

Thanks, Shaun.

You could use a solenoid for the flipper. Here is a list of things you will need:

A transmitter like this one http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-GWS-GWT4A.html and you will also need a reciever. You will want at least four channels

Motor controller

Batteries

Wheels

Something to make the chassis with like polycarbonate or aluminum

Motors

Hope I helped!

For a little more you can purchase the 6EXP, basically just like the one Trumpkin listed but with 6 channels, and has simple programming options. Also if you want to go a little fancy, see the 2.4ghz radios... the big advantage is that there are no frequency conflicts with other radios.

Browse google for battlebot designs. Basically see how other people did it, read their advice, etc.

You can find parts to everything here:
