AVR STK serial port dongle programmer Question!?!?
« on: January 22, 2009, 04:49:08 PM »
Hi,

I am going to attempt to build the 50$ robot and I was wondering wether I could still use this programmer: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=14 to program the new atmega328p micro-controller: http://www.atmel.com/dyn/products/Product_card.asp?part_id=4198&ListAllAttributes=1 This micro-controller is an upgrade of the atmega8 for the 50$ robot. The atmega328p has the same pin layout as the atmeg8 but the dongle doesn't list it in its supported micro-controllers. I was wondering if I could still use this dongle to program the atmega328p because it has the same pin layout as the atmega8. I just want to make sure before I buy the dongle!

Thanks  ;)

A JDM programmer can basically program anything... As far as software programmer allows it....
This means that if ponyprog support the 328 then you have no prob...
But, between me and you... Buy an Atmel kit... It WILL save you from a lot of trouble for some extra money.... :D
For whom the interrupts toll...

just a side note: you can't use a USB to serial adapter for these types of programmers
