I need an electronics primer
« on: December 18, 2008, 12:55:14 PM »
Could someone please suggest an electronics primer.  Obviously my ultimate goal is to learn enough to be able to build an army of sophisticated robots that will assist me in taking over the world.  For now though I need electronics 101 experience.  I'd like to get right into it but I need the basics explained.

I think by primer you mean tutorial?
Just google for 'electronics tutorial' and read as much as you can
The question that drives me hazy:

Am I, or the others crazy?

I highly recommend this book:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0945053282?ie=UTF8&tag=mightyohm-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0945053282

If you click the "look inside" you can see it is written easily enough for a child to understand, but covers material a sophomore electrical engineering student would learn in class.

Pomprocker visually the book looks awesome.  I will definitely make a point to pick it up asap.  If I can find it locally I may even grab it today.  I've tried getting right into the building of robots but found myself getting hung up on some of the electrical stuff.  I'm knowledgable in programming and have a good grasp of mechanics so hopefully this book will fill in the piece I'm missing.
