Title: I would like to use micro servos (10gram), anybody try

I know you can burn these guys up if too much resistance.  anybody ever try modifying the micro servos.  I have them from my RC airplane.  I would like to use them.

I have modified micro servos but because of the size you have to be more careful - I had modified a few standard sized servos well but out of the two micros I had I ruined one.

Also you have to make sure the bot is light enough, the servos wont be able to pull huge nicd batteries or anything.

The only micro servo's ive used have plastic gears. They strip teeth really easily. (also with the teeth being so small, if they dont strip off then the teeth tend to bend).

If you have micro servo's with metal gears then fair enough, use them.
