hello everybody,
Could somebody help me shopping..? I'm going to build the 50 $ robot (at least I'm going to try.. ;-)
I've always been interested in robots and this tutorial helped me to think : yes I can!! ...hopefully
So, I started my shopping at digikey.com and a few parts are missing and findable at other shops, but because I live in Europe (Belgium), there is a cost for shipping. So, the majority of the parts are available at digikey and including a few tools I need, I'm going to reach 65€ ..that means free shipping...so I'm trying to find the same products in my area or alternatives at digikey..
here is the list of my questions:
-6v 1400mAh NiMH Battery is recommended but do you think there is an alternative at digikey? I saw a lot of batteries there, but don't know...
-for the photoresistor, do you see an alternative to the one recommended here http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Selection

-last question(for the moment ;-) : to be sure I understood correctly, because as you can see, english is not my mother language ;-) , do I have to choose beetween AVR STK Serial Port Dongle Programmer and AVR ISP2 Programmer or do I have to buy both?

Just make sure its 6V, above 500mAh, and NiMH, and it'll work. Hitec connector is best.
As for photoresistor, basically any type will work.

You choose. My recommendation is the ISP2, if you don't mind the higher cost.

It'll work, but its not copper-plated so it'll probably be difficult to solder if you're not l337 :P
(you'll see little copper rings around each hole to be copper-plated, allowing easy soldering points)

hello,
I received the board and I'm wondering if it's ok..I mean, in the tutorial I can see that the board is full of small holes that apparently seem electrically isolated, and the one I received is completely covered by a layer of copper, so ..the whole board is conductive...I hope that my question is clear and that I'm using the right terms. sorry, beginner here.. :-\

hmmmm yea its *supposed* to be full of electrically isolated holes . . . you mean its one big copper sheet with holes in it? I looked at the digikey part again, it *looks* like it is correct . . . appears it isn't :-\

If so, its a copper clad board... And is useless unless you want to etch it yourself...
