In the future, we hope to be able to implement advanced functionality such as being able to distinguish between two different drinks and then being able to bring it to you. Other functionality would be an ability to massage your shoulders and neck, having Aiko tell you to bring an umbrella when it rains or wear warmer clothes when it is cold outside. That and much more is planned.

Our approach to this project is to have things be modular which gives us the ability to add more functionality and sub-systems in the future as permitted by our resources, such as a taste bud and breathing system.

Ummm... I'm sorry but this sounds like you can't get a girlfriend and so you are making one. :P

When you get the chance, you really should go into detail on B.R.A.I.N.S.

My newest robots have the ability to store huge chunks of sensor data, but I really dont know what to do with it all . . . At the moment I just analyze it all in Excel to see if I can draw any useful conclusions . . . Its really hard for a robot to know when it fails, so data is useless to the robot unless it knows its 'bad' data . . . AI wont work unless your robot has a way of knowing on its own if what it does is 'right' or 'wrong.' How do you approach this problem?

lol . . . but robot girls are easier to turn on/off ;)
besides, all evil AI robots are girl bots . . . dont you watch the movies? :P

Hmm... well if I have a chance to work on male android or female android.
I would pick female android any day.

I think people find female human to be more interesting than male human.
If you haven:t notice all the android made from large corporation are all female androids.

And beside, if I am going to spend hours and hours working at the android, I prefer staring at a female android than a male android.
That being says.... I always want my own personal slave to do my house work.... opps... did I say slave,.... I meant to say maid. ;D

Having the maid android do your house work, any time, any where.... and you don:t have to pay her.
Probably won:t happen for another 100 years, but for now.... one step at a time.

"how were you able to come up with the AI program?"

To avoid the same email send to me over and over again.
I will just post it here.

Voice, recognition, automation, vision, motion etc...
Please let me know which one you want to know.
There are too much to go in detail for all of them.

I will just pick one.
The voice and speech was original done in Basic.
Yeah... basic... one of the best language for programing in the world.

The English and the Japanese speech were programmed in basic.
It gets the job done.

When talking it get the pronouncation from the data base.
There is a lot of exception for each words, so my data have to keep track of the exception.

Example.
I read
I have read.
He has read.

The word "read" spell the same, but say differently.
Aiko has to check the keyword before and after each word to make sure the pronounce is correct.
This goes the same for the reading japanese.
It was a lot of work in the beginning, but now most of it are done.
But I still have to update the database regularly.

There are still some words that Aiko say it wrong, but that is the learning process, which I still have to fix.

I dont know if im right, but i think i heard that when u asked Aiko:
-Whats your name?
-My name Aiko
NOT: My name IS Aiko.

"I'd like to learn how she recognizes faces"
Does she recognize faces, doesn't she just recognize voices?

My goodness, I didn:t even notice that. This is why public forum is good.
I guess the grammar "is" tag is not sending to the speech recognition.
I will have to check the code.

Thank for letting me know.

I am working on a new gear system to make it stronger.
Currently, the left and right is OK, but the up and down is a bit weak.
I am a bit busy right now, but I will re-design the new gear system, probably within 1-2 weeks.

She can recognize by double checking your eyes, nose and mouth from the database.
She can look at a real person and recognize or she can look at the picture album and recongize.
The photo album must be big enough for her to see it clearly.
If you are wondering, can she recognize side view and back view... the answer is NO.

I want to program eye iris recognition, but that is too much for one man project.

Just throwing this out there... Your project looks amazing, and it seems like some of the stuff you are accomplishing is still tripping up some of the major robotics research companies right now. You said you were in need of money but didn't have good enough English skills to get a sponsor, maybe we as a forum could try to help you get a sponsor? It seems that your major limiting factor right now is money, so if you had a sponsor that would free you up to create some pretty amazing things! Great job!

Yeah! I think if you have 878+ people looking for a sponsor for you, money problems would be a thing of the past!

Yes, it would be nice to have a sponsor or grant for project aiko. But I don:t think any company is interested.
The problem is that they look at your written proposal before they even look at the actual product.
My English is not good enough to write even a decent proposal. I have tried and fail badly.

Currently, I am trying my best to complete Project Aiko under $20,000.  Why under $20k, because that is the max my credit card limit. :'(

I believe Honda Asimo the first prototype cost them $100 million US to make over many years.
I don:t know why it cost so much, but that is what I have read.

I can:t imagine what I can build even if I just have 50K. ;D

I still need a lot of motors and sensors, but I think I can do under $20K .

So if anyone here knows any company that is willing to sponsor me, please let me know.

Happy July 4 day.

Thank in advance.

My Female Android Robot Project Update.

Hello everyone.

As you know there are a few female android prototypes in the market  or seen at the convention show.
However, the androids are very simple because they can't walk, and some are simply pre-recorded voice
or very simple AI.

I want to be the first to make an advance android female robot that can walk with AI that can interact with people
and the surrounding.

If it works GREAT, and if it does NOT work ...life goes on with a large credit card debt.

Short form spec for the android.

Pro:

Project Name: Project Aiko
Code Name: Aiko
Height: 153 cm
Weight: still adding more hardware
camera: 3 cameras with 3ccd
battery: MN-polymer
Mainboard: C7 with 8Gig solid state.
Sensors: 12 sensors (max 16)
DOF: 30
Software: Sandai (advance version)

Con:
Sandai can Not handle center of gravity when wearing shoes.
CPU and memory intensive
Must connect to the internet to get data from our server.
(Can run without connecting to our server, but action are limited)

Aiko body was custom made from implant silicone from head to toe, therefore, it looks and feels as close as a female human.
The body is now being re-done and re-designed in Japan with our new specification to make it looks more female like with a slimmer body and lighter weight.

I am hoping to have a demo video sometimes this week.
In the mean time, I have upload the pictures.

I put the picture behind the black background, because I thought it looks better.
p.s. If you have any suggestions, please post it here or email or PM me.

Thank

Dude nice idea.
I've have not failed, I've just found out 2,000 how a light bulb will not work

Being a mechanical engineer, I used to do it the pen/paper method. I still sometimes do this method when I run complex optimization algorithms in excel or in C++.

But for complex shaped parts, I typicall use ANSYS.

"Being a mechanical engineer, I used to do it the pen/paper method. I still sometimes do this method when I run complex optimization algorithms in excel or in C++."

Yes, good old pen and "napkin paper". I do most of my stress calculation on a piece of napkin paper at any coffee shop.

I added in the new gear system to aiko neck, and I must say.... aiko can now move the head smoothly.
Also added new system for the mouth to make it less noisy. It is still noisy but not as much as the last demo. 60% less noise.

I was also told that my modified body will be shipping back to me this month.
So more pictures and video coming soon. ;D

Also, I got whole bunch of sensors... probably going to put inside her breast and shoulder, so when anyone try to touch her breast, she will slap you. >:(

And I almost done with human trace motion, meaning if you left your left arm, Aiko will do the same by looking at you.
The point of this was to do Tai Chi....  :)

That would be cool as hell to be able to teach her martial arts and stuff like that. Hopefully her joint servos will be powerful and fast enough to do it effectively =)... I suggest only teaching her the arm/hand movements first and not even hooking up the legs to make sure she cant chase you if she mis-identifies you as a rapist(breast sensors=lmao) or thief

How much power draw does her head alone take?

EDIT---
wow... "her", not "it"...

You know that old christian thing that goes something like "god created man in his own image"?

I think robots will be made in the image of a robot engineer . . .

Ai-bot, dont you agree? :P

(I dont mean you look like a female robot, I mean that your ideals and values are being implanted into your creations . . .)

"That would be cool as hell to be able to teach her martial arts and stuff like that."

With my current budget Aiko can Not do martial arts, don:t have the money to get strong and faster custom motors.
Max torque/speed : 550kg.cm  @ 0.65sec / 60 degree
It is a bit slow for karate, but ok for Tai Chi.

With a low budget, I have to sacrifice speed for torque.

Yes, the leg would be the last thing I will do, because it cost the most money to make. :(

Max: 7.2 V with 3 Amp
Don:t really need the head to be strong, so I can reduce to.
7.2 V 900 mah

Hi all.

I manage to get back the body in one piece.
I will have demo video of Aiko doing some BASIC houseworks within a few weeks. ;D

I just need to config the software to work with Aiko new body.
In additional, I will add more sensors.

In the meantime I have taken some pictures.

Hi...

For the last few years, I have been thinking can an android feel pain.
Well, at least simulate pain.

I have been toying with the idea for years, but I finally put it to test.
I did a simple test, and it seems to work.
I will do a full test on the weekend.

I use optical which acts like "nerve sensors" which will simulate touch feeling and simulate pain when being hit hard. It will be running along the arm down to the body and legs. But for now I will test the arm only.

I must say... it work better than I thought. Just need to re-code the AI logic for pain.... and hope for the best.
