auto start line follower robot without microcontroller?

i have a project that i have to make Line following robot without microcontroller
but at the start line there is a barrier and the robot have to auto start whenever the barried is opened( like open the door )
i thinking of using sensor
any suggest i will very appreciated

Use either a proximity sensor that outputs high/low, or use a simple limit/bumper switch that, when pushed, stops the robot, and jam the robot against the barrier when starting.
