Title: Step by Step UART - AVRlib Files Missing
Post by: airman00 on September 26, 2008, 04:15:50 PM
In the step by step UART tutorial(http://www.societyofrobots.com/microcontroller_uart_50_robot.shtml)   it says the following  :

Quote
These are AVRlib files needed to do the hard UART and printf commands for you.

If you are using the $50 Robot source code, then you already have AVRlib installed and ready to use (so don't worry about it). Otherwise, read the instructions on installing AVRlib.

The words "These are AVRlib files needed" are linked to here  http://hubbard.engr.scu.edu/avr/avrlib/docs/html/main.html
That link is dead. Can anyone provide me an alternate place to download the necessary files?

Thanks,
Eric

AVRlib is an easy one to find as it's always the first result on Google: http://www.google.ie/search?q=avrlib (http://www.google.ie/search?q=avrlib)
if you just want the zipfile go here: http://www.mil.ufl.edu/~chrisarnold/components/microcontrollerBoard/AVR/avrlib/avrlib.zip (http://www.mil.ufl.edu/~chrisarnold/components/microcontrollerBoard/AVR/avrlib/avrlib.zip)

o yea.
i guess one of their servers is down.
either try again later or if you are in a hurry (and have the patience to strip out the line numbers) you could copy and paste from the documentation:
http://www.mil.ufl.edu/~chrisarnold/components/microcontrollerBoard/AVR/avrlib/docs/html/index.html (http://www.mil.ufl.edu/~chrisarnold/components/microcontrollerBoard/AVR/avrlib/docs/html/index.html)

actually, better idea:
if you only need the UART and printf files you can find them here:
http://www.societyofrobots.com/member_tutorials/node/69 (http://www.societyofrobots.com/member_tutorials/node/69)
download "module_template.zip" then go into the module_template/firmware/AVRlib directory.
