Cell Phone Screen
« on: August 08, 2008, 11:05:42 PM »
Hey,
I'm working on making a cell phone racer. I want to be able to display stuff on the screen. It is a Nokia 1600B Type: RH-65. The numbers I have on the display are: front) ZZ1ZZ 8981-2 Z7263065 back) 45 30720112 MP1.0 7263065 4850977 / 750780 39651. The numbers after the / on the back are printed on the actual display. the rest of the numbers are on stickers. It has a 10 pin connection. Is anyone familiar with this kind of display? Btw, it is a color display.

You want to control it remotely by cell phone? That needs DTMF  , look that up on google
Check out the Roboduino, Arduino-compatible board!

Nah.
I'm taking an old cell phone, and turning it into a smart racer. But just for an added effect, I would like to be able to display stuff on the screen.

I'm using as much of the cell phone as I can. I'm using the battery, I will add in a charging circuit to use the phone's charger. I'm using the tiny vibration motors (from a couple phones) to drive it. I stuck a couple LED's under the keypad to light that up.

Once it's complete, I'll post all my notes.

Hi,

Sparkfun do a nokia knock off lcd screen with a 10 pin connection, I doubt that they are exactly the same model but i'm willing to bet that they work the same and the pinout is the same. There is a lot of documentation on the page for it.

Heres the url.. http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=569

Wow, Thank you! That link looks perfect!! The connector it shows looks identical. It will take me a while to dig through it all, but I think that site should give me all the info I need for this project!
