Title: Help For science fair robot
Post by: nadogggg on February 03, 2009, 09:52:17 PM
I am making a solar powered robot for the science fair... only problem, I dont know how to make one. It would be great if you could make a tutorial on solar powered robots. Id like it to be cheap, but the hardest part is I have to make the robot by Feb. 26

Thank you!

Do you have any experience with electronics?
Do you have any parts?

Do some searches for BEAM robots and think about something like that.
Maybe look at something like : http://www.solarbotics.com/products/k_ss/

It's a bit much to ask for a tutorial for this in time for you to actually build it by 2/26 unless you mean 2010....

lol

ya I was thinking that.......... Maybe I should just custom build it. This would be my first robot and I guess I can just ask for help if I need it. Im thinking about making it an RC just to save time. I wonder how much it would cost....

You should start out with that kit because it is your first robot. Once you built the kit and understand how it works, you can build an improved one that is better than the kit.

cool. Kay, so should I build it for the science fair???

Is that robot RC?? I think it would be easier if it was RC. Maybe I can tweak it to make It RC....... Does anyone know how to do that???

Don't build it for the science fair, too easy. After you built it modify it a little bit (bigger solar cells? new chassis?) and put that in the science fair.

Also making it RC is basically making it "dumber" and also will draw a lot more power so you'll need more and more solar cells. Just keep it autonomous

ok.

Well, I guess I should Add A switch to start it. OK. First, I guess ill order the kit (wonder when it will get here...) , Post my results and ask if I should make it better and how.

thanks for your help!!

Ill post as soon as I build the robot!

if the file is too big open it in paint and save it as a .gif
it brings the size down
