Need urgent help for Robotics project

Sir;

     I am from computer sc back ground. But I always dreamed to make robots. Thats why I have taken my final year project in robot design, and should complete with in 5 months.
 
     I am planing to design a robot having following features:

    *             Distance finder
    *             Obstacle avoidance &
    *             Finding a particular ball object and take it and go to the end position and place the ball there.


    But I couldn't understand, from where to start. I have some knowledge on digital electronics, analog circuit and 8085 microprocessor. Plz sir help me.....how to proceed..

   1.     from whr to start
   2.     wat are the subjects and books I have to read
   3.     Give me some useful links and references
   4.     Give me some instructions from ur point of view.

Yes. If you read all the recommended tutorials on the home page then you will know all the basics need for building a robot.
