Title: PCB boards and assembly companies
Post by: Asellith on February 07, 2008, 08:32:05 AM
I have been looking into PCB manufactures and some assembly firms. I was wondering if anyone has any sugestions on a good one. I have looked into express PCB and actually sent an order to them through work. I am also looking at advanced circuits and advanced assembly (I think they are the same company). I just wanted to see if anyone else has dealing with some companies and trust them. I'm kinda new to this and my designs not even close to done let alone prototyped so I have some time to shop :)

Heya, glad to hear that you'relookin into getting some professsional pcb work done.  I work for a CM that does PCB population.  We can place all sorts of smt parts, and some that are really tiny (.01005 mm).  we use a couple of differant board houses, I would check around for companies that allow you to have a builds as small as 1 board.  Otherwise you might get stuck with a a min order of like 100 boards, but you can always sell them :).  try giving excel boards a call, or bear boards.  I'm a pcb designer in my spare time and I can tell you that when you send the gerber files to the board house make sure that you include the silk screen files when them.  It might be hard to place your part unless you know where they go (small boards not really a problem, big boards might have some trouble).  I don't know what program you're useing but always double check your connections and never ever use an auto-router.  it can make a mess of your board.   please feel free to ask me any questions about pcb design or pcb population, I'm always happy to help.

Try run.to/pcb -- cheap but not fast (unless you are in Europe maybe).

But the work is very good for the price.
