ultrasonic sensor for obstacle detection

i tried a no of circuits for obstacle avoidance using ultrasonic but no one works. if any one have any circuit that surely works .please let me knw . i will be very thankful..

what sort of things have you tried?
why dont they work?

is it a code or hardware issue?

are the sensors working?

are the sensors looking where they are supposed to?

A different approach would be posting what you're using now so somebody can look at it and tell you what's wrong. Pictures and schematics make all the difference!
