I bought this sensor more than a year ago and am finally getting around to playing with and using it.
The data sheet is here:

I've tried doing the following test with an Axon for power, and a Multimeter for measurements:
GND (4) to Axon ground pin (E.g. A2 pin trio)
Vcc(11) to Axon center row pins (again, A2 trio)
Then Multimeter to GND and Vo(13)
All measurements end up being in the 0 to +- 5mv range.
I'm pretty sure that I'm doing the wiring wrong for this sort of sensor. Someone with a better knowledge of reading data sheets know what to do here?

Pololu makes a very convienient breakout board for that sensor. They also give examples on using it.
Definately a good place to help you get started with it.

Hi,
GND (4) to Axon ground pin (E.g. A2 pin trio)
Vcc(11) to Axon center row pins (again, A2 trio)
Then Multimeter to GND and Vo(13)
It's all in page 2 of the datasheet.
- Vcc to pins 11 AND 14
- Gnd to pin 4
- 100nF between pins 4 and 11
- 100nF between pins 4 and 7
- Shunt pins 1 and 3
- 4.3 Ohm resistor between pins 2 and 4 (to set LED current)
- Pin 12 to pin 11 to activate (pin 12 to pin 4 for Stand By)
Output is now on pin 13, low when object is detected (2..10 cm in front of it), otherwise high

Vcc(11) to Axon center row pins (again, A2 trio)
A2 is an unregulated pin on the Axon, and your sensor can't safely handle above 6.2V.
Just making sure you are aware of that ;D

I knew my battery was ~6V (5* AA rechargeables)
But ya. I was rusty and finally went and looked at the schematic of the Axon again. (But before I read your post, so hah! ;) )

I figured that'd probably tell me what I needed to know, but was hoping for a simpler solution. Considering that I don't have a good supply of basic electronic components lying around, I need to either buy such, or just go with the breakout board.
Probably will do both, of course :)
