How To Put Two Sprockets on One Driveshaft?
« on: December 18, 2011, 01:05:41 PM »
Hello,

How would I put two sprockets on a motor's driveshaft like the one in the link below? Would I need to extend the axle using some type of adjoiner?  http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/24vo400wamow.html

The reason I want to do this is so I my robot will be fourwheeled drive.  Similar to a skid steers drive system http://tinyurl.com/csjjrla

Before, I thought about doing something similar to the picture below, but then I realized the method above would be better.

What are your guys' thoughts?

Could anyone verify my proposed method or does anyone have another suggestion of how I could do this?

I don't see a problem with your drawing. The only suggestion I could think of is adding a tensioner sprocket/pulley to your existing design. It would allow more teeth of your top sprocket to stay in contact with the chain (less chance for slippage), and also allow for a possible suspension system for your axles. Not to mention a tensioner also allows for easy removal/service to the system.
