Title: Explorer I = laptop + webcam + wifi + toycar + ATmega8
Post by: GUmeR on June 02, 2008, 01:19:49 AM
Hello

This is my first "big" robot (actually it's a remote controlled car). Note it's controlled by wifi interface from second computer.

Explorer is based on old RC toy car. It has laptop computer on its back, big AGM battery on top of rear axis, USB camera in front mounted on two servos for rotation and one HAL unit to bridge laptop computer to servos and of course engines. Robot communicates with control application through Wi-Fi card.

Were did you use the Atmega 8? (sorry if this was explained in the last vidio, i didn't watch it all)

but apart from that...Nice work

I'd love to make a robot driven off a laptop

Awesome looking with that keyboard (laptop) on top of it! Now make a web interface to drive it and post the address here...  ;D

Here is diagram of architecture:

ATmega8 is located in HAL unit (my other project) witch is simply a bridge between PC and other stuff (servos, motors, generic I/O, ADC)

Currently I'm working on second version Explorer II, much stronger and accurate, with autonomous capabilities. That web interface is good idea I think. Maybe I will do something like this to promote Exp. II :).
