Title: Freeduino BBB Rev. D2 Questions
Post by: unicoder on June 04, 2009, 04:29:13 PM
Heya all. I am trying to set up a friends Freeduino and having no luck uploading. Heres the condiions:

Pre-assembled Freeduino BBB Rev D2 with ATMega168
Both Jumpers set to EXT.
+5v and GND connected according to marks on the board right beside the RST pin.
Board LED turns on when power is applied.
When power is first applied an LED (connected with 1k resistor) to pin 13 blinks a few times.
When clicking the reset button the LED on pin 13 does not blink.
*EDIT* I tested again and I think this one only blinks when reset is pressed first after power on and maybe when recieving new program*
FDTI TTL-232-USB cable pluged in with Black Wire matching to GND.
FDTI Drivers installed and Recognized When plugged into PC.
Loppback Test from PC To AVR socket pins 1 and 2 echo properly.

When attempting to upload via Arduino software I recieved standard no-sync and bad protocol errors.

Any clue what else I can do?

Still a no go. I wonder if there is a bootloader problem. should not be though. My friend said they uploaded a program once before when they had gotten it. Said it took them a looong time he had to have another friend do it. who "counted" when pressing reset button and download button..

Note to self. Don't ever buy a Freeduino

*SUPER EDIT* Ok Problem solved. Also no need to click RST button.
Solution: I had the Jumper for J1/j2 aka +5v/EXT set to EXT as well as the USB/EXT to EXT. Mainly because of Radioshacks huge gap between the supply rails and the building rungs.
I inserted the board into a more "generic" breadboard and enabled USB power and set the other jumper to +5v and my program uploaded in a blink. Also the RST button causes the light to blink once each time i hit it.
