Title: Winter break! What you working on?
Post by: z.s.tar.gz on December 16, 2009, 07:07:28 PM
I'm using my few weeks to do some serious robot building and maybe work on my custom keyboard.
What you have planned for the days off from school?

(Not in school? Sucks for you!)

I'm not in school but it's all good because I work from home. I'm working on my mech for both the SOR competition and RoboGames next year. It's named "Nostromo" and is basically a dual airsoft wielding death bot.

One more exam tomorrow morning, and I'm done. woot!

I'm planning on doing something with a webcam, OpenCV and my lynxmotion robotic arm, but I'm at a loss for any good ideas.

Suggestions?

Hi,

Nah, I'm taking a couple of weeks off from the job, to spend X-mas with my GF, my son, his GF and their son, get some serious R&R, spending time with some of the friends I've seen to little in the rush of everyday life, consuming a few bottles of Scotch and if I get time left over, perhaps I'm gonna get a bit ahead with some research... Oh, perhaps get on with some chapters of a book on electronics.
Gee, it's gonna be a busy holiday - No rest for the wicked ;D

I'm working on a tracked bot with a tail, the tail should aid it in climbing obstacles. Hopefully it'll even be able to climbs stairs. Also it should avoid objects it can't climb and avoid drops too high...

Just waiting on some transistors for my H-bridge and then i can start programming it  :)

With all stuff considered you are 50 - 60 years old!!!! Darn, I own some respect....

And as for me... well, I'll be studying for exams, plus trying to get a Gf.... xexexe
Robotics comes second....

Not in school = !sucking.

I work for the Navy, playing with robots, so for my two week vacation?

Work on my own robots. :-)  Hehe. (I already have a gf, so don't have to worry about that.)

My main project is my autonomous 4WD ground vehicle. Right now I am building my own intelligent motor controller. (ie, you send it commands in speed, and it responds with distance the wheels have traveled )

I'm 51, but age shouldn't be the foundation of respect, as nobody ever did anything themselves to be born at a certain time :)

Work hard on the former and not at all at the latter (the harder you try, the less luck you'll usually have).
Wishing you good luck on both counts ;D
