Wireless rheostat control for welding machine
« on: April 22, 2012, 11:44:25 PM »
ive had this idea of making a wireless control for my welding machine. I have the general idea however I do have a few questions regarding the parts I will be using. My only background that I have with any of this is remote control cars. So based on that background here is my idea. Originally I was going to use a traxxas receiver hooked to a HS311 servo and I was going to hook the servo to the rheostat by bolting the plastic arm on the servo to a hole I drilled on the rheostat wiper and control is by using a traxxas radio. Here are my questions, can I hook my traxxas receiver to 12v battery from my welding machine without frying, will the servo have enough torque, my other idea of hooking the servo to the wiper would be to place the servo above the rheostat or below the rheostat and hook it up by a steel linkage. any ideas will be appreciated keep in mind you guys know alot more about this than me. Thanks.

I have several but the one I'm currently using is a micro that came off a erevo however I'm open to suggestions on a good set up I can use on this servo, 12v preferably with interchangeable crystals similar to a r/c car set up

Ok, so I gave it some  thought and Im thinking I can use a  traxxas evx2 esc as a voltage regulator to power the receiver.
