SRF05 and the Arduino Motor Shield
« on: November 18, 2008, 06:44:25 PM »
I'm not quite sure how to wire my srf05...I've did some researches but not getting much of good results  :-\
How do you guys wire your range finder? I've seen pictures where it can stick into the breadboard...do I need jumper pins?
Also, which mode is "better" to use?

Here's the motor shield

^so where do I stick the wires into the shield?  ???

If you set the SRF05 into mode 2 (connect the mode to ground) it appears to operate the same as the Parallax Ping. See the reference to mode 2 at SRF05 tech page  in comparison to the Ping data pdf.

i dont know about the motor shield though... just follow the wiring on the PCB i guess and have a multimeter handy

It's actually pretty easy. Look at the pinout diagram on the datasheets and take an educated guess. Post it here and we'll tell you if its correct (I have faith in you so I'm not giving you the easy way out :P).

Yea I know how to do it, I guess I worded it wrong  ::)  What I meant was like how to connect wires to the hole on the srf05  :D
After digging the forum for a while I found your wiring guide :)

The bottom hole on the left is analog I believe...is this right?  ???

Thats not my wiring guide :P

The datasheet should say if it is analog or not . . . but even then it doesn't matter as the Trigger Input, Echo Output are digital (not analog) signals. :P
