cant you switch the regulator out for a 3.3V? and for the power pins if you dont want to damage the connector on the end you should look online. maybe

I am using a 9V rechargeable battery for the arduino.
I am using a power bus with 4 1.2V rechargeable batteries for the IR rangefinders
I am using the 5V pin on the arduino for vcc on the motor driver
I am using a 9.6V battery pack for the VMOT on the motor driver.



Is everything ok? Did I choose the right battery packs?
I'm out of ideas!

If your in a time crunch you can use the ir sensors on the 4 1.2V batteries, but I would recommend the 5V regulated power from the arduino if possible.  Your battery will not output a consistent voltage and this could vary your analog signal.

that pretty much goes for most analogue sensors :) i would use the 5V regulated from the arduino for it.
