Title: SOFTWARE FOR DRAWING SCHEMATICS OF THE ELECTRONICS BOARD
Post by: superchiku on May 17, 2008, 11:14:19 PM
Since iam into information technology engineering, i would not have any access o eagle cad or cad for drawing the model or schematics of my robot, Google sketchup provided a good solution for drawing my robot model but i dont know which software is best for drawing schematics of my electronics board , any suggestions on a software for the purpose ???

Orcad Capture CIS allows you to create schematics like this: EXAMPLE (http://www.eletmz.it/robot/schematic.jpg)

moreover, you can create a multi-page project and let the software know how the parts of the circuit are connected.
In the Orcad suite you can find also Orcad Layout Plus which reads your schematics (netlist in particular) and let you draw the PCB layout.

It's a very professional and expensive tool, but if you can get it it's the best solution in my opinion.

I use it at school (Electronic Engineering) and at home for my personal projects: bugs occur quite often and you need a lot of training to get used to it but in the end you'll start to love it  :P

yeap, Eagle has a freeware version! and its almost full featured, too!

It took me a little while to learn, its not entirely user friendly. Just follow the list of tutorials I linked on this page:

probably i found an answer to my own problem , if  any of you dont know yet then there is a good software out there which i also mentioned in my how to make pcb's tutorial which unfortunately i havent completed yet but i will soon , its express pcb... i thought u could only make pcb drawings out of it but u also have a schematic drawer which is also a part of the software... its cool easy to learn and as versatile as eagle cad...

what type of files does it save as? I was under the impression that express pcb outputted some wierd file that only a few (expensive) boardhouses use, not the .brd file that eagle uses.
