I must admit this has been the coolest looking and preforming hex pod I've seen.

That has beautiful IK algos. All done on basic stamps by the looks of it (loads of pics and comments from builder on trossen robotics forum)

and all that robot needs is some scary mabba-jabba red led eyes and were set to scare the crap out of someone!!

wow, I have some of those servos but mine don't move that smooth, even with a sequencer. I wonder how he made that top piece; vacuum forming maybe?

Then I mounted the upper body plate with the bottom side upwards onto the frame. After that I started to heat up the body plate (ABS plastic) with the heating gun. You've to heat it alot until a critical point when the plastic starts to get very soft. At this point you can easily shape it using different tools like a hammer etc. I used the pressured air for fast coolant.
This picture show my first attempt that didn't go so very well because I was stupid enough to drill the holes for the head section before I started the "molding" process.

That thing moves sooo cool, although seeing it walk after all that was a little disappointing, I definitely can't complain!

how do you mean? i find it really interesting and amazing! especially this one...

it looks really smooth and life-like standing still and moving around its head and all, but doesn't look like that then moving. If you look how a real spider walks or any six legged thing you can see the imperfections in the walking algorithm.

ahh, i see what you guys mean now. it does have its imperfections, but you guys still gotta admit, its a pretty darn good robot!

yep, and they always walk really slowly when the servos are capable of better

Yeah, i was expecting it to go a little faster, although it could not be able to walk at all, and I would still love it.
