Powering Mini-ATX with Sealed Lead Acid Battery
« on: December 21, 2009, 02:20:02 AM »
Hi All,
Is there an adapter that will allow me to hook my mini-atx motherboard to a sealed lead acid battery without frying my motherboard? Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Don't you need a psu for the motherboard?

Hi SmAsh,
Thanks for responding, and yes I would need a power supply. However, I would need an adapter  for the power supply as it can not be hooked to the battery directly. Do you know where I can buy an adapter that I can plug the psu into on one end, and hook the battery to on the other? Thanks again for your response.

Well, you would probably need a mini psu that can take a 12v input voltage.
You would then hook the terminals up to those of the power supply input.
Why do you think the psu cannot be hooked up directly?

Wow, Bill, I didn't know these were made. This is the best way to power an ATX MB from a battery.
