Title: focus on robots!
Post by: Admin on July 09, 2007, 07:53:46 PM
Just a reminder that this is a robotics help forum.

There has been a lot of non-robot conversations going on. Its not banned or anything, nor am I against it, but just try and focus. No ADD type conversations, please! :P

I want to keep the posts on topic so that the forum remains of high quality.

That is all.

thats attention deficit hyper activity disorder, which is when you go and go and go and your mind goes faster then your body cause most ppl with it are actualy smart and seem to think very fast or maby thats just baised on the ppl i know with adhd and add and other acronims but seriosely they cant stop talking or moving or whatever and they dont even finish there... i wonder how black holes form?

Thanks for the advertence ADMIN. I noticed that the number of threads and specialy posts that have little to do robotics have increased. Jokes, parallel/unrelated topics and 'Cool, good job!' posts are cool but utterly unnescessary. They just interrupt a good discussion.

maby a misc. forum is whats needed, letting us rant about things and trail on as much as we wanted, so ALL posts in the robotics section become robotics related... theres probobly a way to make it not count twards your post count, so we dont get misc. section post whores

Yeah, I mean, sort of coming onto a different topic in the middle of someone's topic just quickly is ok, but if the rest of the topic is based on that interruption, then everything is ruined.

Some of the newer members (not saying any names) are like 'sorry for posting this here'............why be sorry? Why not just NOT post there. You don't have to be sorry, just make a new Thread!

Also, the title of the thread is of the utmost importance. It's not nice to open up a thread called 'microcontroller' for it to say 'OMG my robot is broken what do I do?'

This fails on 2 counts. The thread title is misleading and the stuff inside doesn't do much for an engineer.

Think before posting etc etc.

Due to a recent large influx of useless posts, and complaints to me about them, I'm reviving this thread.

Stop making posts that look like:
'haha thats funny'
'dood thats a neat idea!'
'[totally irrelevent comment]'

If you want to make a useless post, make sure its followed by *useful* commentary. Otherwise it mucks up the forum, mucks up search, and annoys people with forum reply emails.

I *will* delete all useless posts when I see them.

ps - if you reply to this with a useless post, I'll name and shame you ;)

haha thats funny!

no seriously, a lot of these useless posts seem to be badly disguised spam for prototyping services or whatever, I doubt they will be stopped by a friendly warning. It's time to ban! :p

he wasn't talking about the posts that take info out of the post then advertise...
i know i have been guilty a few times too, we all have.

he is talking about all these people who will just post "i agree" or who will post anything to get their posts up because they think it gives them better authority or something ???

the posts are completely irrelevant to the topic itself thus just being useless spam.
