Hey guys!
Listen, in "robot arm trouble" post I made, I asked what things I should look for in the computer junk my mom has (2 computers, 2 printers, and a bunch of speakers), I also have a scanner too!But no one help me there, so I am making a post to see What I can get, also look in the "robot arm trouble" post to see what I making!
Thanks! Mcrich ;D

scanner-stepper motors.
printer- motors, encoders, gears,
computer- heatsinks, header pins(PITA to unsolder though), psu if it's good for a benchtop PSU. wires and female headers. ide cables work good too. I use them alot

Hey guys!
Thanks for the help ed1380!Now I still have questions, can some also tell me what I can find in some RC cars? I opened one but it moter was attached to its microcontroler, so instead what should i look for?
Thanks!Mcrich113 ;D

motors, cheap recievers, gears.

Did you mean to say reciever instead of microcontroller? there are probably no microcontrollers in an R/C car.
-
looks the same.
@ op- not really. motor and keep the receiver. you later might want to use the remote and it on a remote controlled robot.
-
(off topic) workon yous grammars. :o ;) I didn't understand what you just posted.

me?

not really(period)

learn to read :P

Hi guys!
I guess it could have the receiver, It had an antena attached to it, but i still can't get out :'(. Oh well, also, can someone explain the things ed1380 named, I want to know how I can use them in my robot.
Thanks! Mcrich113 ;D
P.S.(off topic) workon yous grammars. :o ;) I didn't understand what you just posted.

LOL I was joking. I typed that wrong on purpose.
you later might want to use the remote and it on a remote controlled robot(period)
um, ed, this is kind of confusing. ::) Let's get back on topic
-
Keep on topic!!!!!!!!!!
-
also in computers there are LEDS , motors , buttons, and load and loads of wire connectors which are useful ( as ed1380 said)
Keep on topic!!!!!!!!!!
lol, but that post was not really needed
any other stuff you need to know about?
P.S. Be careful if you take capacitors from computers, they may still hold a charge ! :o
-
short all capacitors with a screwdriver before trying to take them out! Make sure you do it with a screwdriver you don't care about, last time i did that it burnt my screwdriver.
-
The last time that computer was used was 8 years ago.
What do capirators do?
-
google.
better yet read this site. it'll come in very handy

capacitors store an electrical charge
they have other properties that are useful as well, like AC flows through but not DC
remember to search google first , before asking a question
Capacitors hold a charge for quite a while , but I don't know about 8 years. Whatever, short it out anyway, safety first.
