Along the y axis at 90 degrees I have a force of 1708.51 N. Suppose I want to find the Force in the x direction at an angle of 45 degrees and the Force vector in the y direction at the same angle.
Fx = F * cos (45) = 1708.51 * cos (45) = 1208.9 N
Fy = F * sin (45) = 1708.51 * sin ( 45) = 1208.9 N
I noticed that F = Fx + Fy = 2416 N. This does not add up to my original Force magnitude of 1708.51. Can someone explain to me why this happens?
