Hey about the part on using water instead of oil, when i was machining aluminum too i found that out as well.  However, the profesionals use some white coolent instead of a lubercant.

Make sure to check out his other videos. He just did an interesting project on his way back to vermont involving a cool tower. Man what I would give to have an old school stone tower in my back yard but he put a floor at the top after clearing the bottom out. Oh and he built some interesting bee hives.

He's back!

He's back in Vermont and he sais he's excited about continueing the giant robot project. Right now he's still busy building a road to his dome in Vermont, so he can get material to the dome easier.
Be sure to check out his videos of Alaska to, they're great.

A couple weeks ago I went up to his place to meet him. Hes a pretty cool guy. Ive been following his project(s) ever since I first saw them from this thread. Im actually in a video helping him work on a project that another friend of his, Ellen, was working on. Its not on his youtube page though, its on Ellens. We were working on the Sphere
Pretty cool :)
I plan on visiting him again sometime soon and probably going to be staying for the weekend at the dome helping him work on stuff and such. I was only there for like 2 hours or so when I went up.

I so much want to visit him as well, and help out on his projects also of course. I have considered doing it, but that has to be on a long trip since i live in Sweden. I should maybe wait until i graduate also.

I really hope more people will come and visit and maybe even settle down and live like him. It would be interesting to see what happened if ten people or so lived there instead (and worked just as hard as Jaimie do). He have by himself already fixed water, shelter AND infrastructure!

He actually has plans of buying an island and only allowing specific "cool" people on it to live with him and create our own society lol. He said I have a spot on that island if I want it :-p totally do :D

dunno if thats a joke or not

Problems with an Island : far from land ( which means medical help, food, and safety in case of emergency)
Too much worry from flooding
Expensive ( the islands with freshwater springs at least )

as someone who actually grew up on an island,
it does have a lot of advantages. not everywhere you could disappear hitch hiking all day when you are 10 years old without your parents having to worry.
as soon as you get old enough to want to see a city easily it's time to leave though.
i don't go home much these days. getting the ferry just takes too long.

naa. Jura (the whiskey) can be nice but it's kind of unreliable.
Jura (the island) is always cool. takes even longer to get to/from though.

I hope he hasn't lost interest, and i don't think so.
He's been asked it a few times, and always denies... plus he said he's building the banana building to work on his robot inside.

So I remain hopefull, with some doubts however.

I assure you he hasnt lost interest. He just doesnt have the space to work on it anymore. Thats why hes building the banana building and originally the tower. The tower is pretty sweet by the way. He has the first floors floor boards up. They arnt nailed in yet or anything though lol. The view is amazing from even just the first floor of it though. Its really really cool :)

Heres a link to the video of me helping out a little bit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5kg4kx3k0I From the video it doesnt look like I did much lol. Im more towards the end at 5:43 in the count up time.
