how do you control a Control a actuator? they have 5 wires , 2 for power and 3 for Potentiometer reference

using a H-Bridge?

What sort of actuator is that? A photo would be nice.

I assume, that 2 wire are used to power motor, then another 2 are used as positive and ground terminals for pot and 1 wire is used as output for pot. If it's like that, then yes, You can control it using 1 H-bridge and if need be use pot as an encoder for position/velocity tracking.
