Title: Attempting to Bind a Spektrum AR6255
Post by: LadyHammer on May 18, 2013, 02:42:06 PM
Hello all! First post in this forum.

I am trying to bind these two together:
Spektrum DX5e 5-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System, DSMX, Mode 2
Spektrum AR6255 DSM2 6-Channel Robot Receiver

I am having problems making the receiver enter bind mode.

I have 4AA batteries hooked up to the AR6255 and the Bind Plug inserted, but when I power it up both the red and the orange light light up.

I think the orange light is supposed to blink indicating it is in bind mode, but nothing I seem to try can get that orange light to start blinking.

I have tried:
- using a test lead instead of the bind plug (in case the bind plug was broken)
- powering the AR6255 through different ports (I've tried both the THRO and the AUX1 ports)

Each time both the red and orange lights go on and stay lit.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I hope I'm missing something easy.

Thanks!
Jason

If it helps, I have also tried using 6 volts (4AA) and a 9 volt battery. Same issue.

This is quite frustrating. <sigh> off to order parts for a Electrokinetic Gun; at least I can get started on the weapons system....

Any suggestions AT ALL on the binding would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Jason

To recap I'm using this for my R/C:
Transmitter: Spektrum DX5e 5-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System, DSMX, Mode 2
Receiver: Spektrum AR6255 DSM2 6-Channel Robot Receiver
Speed Controller: Sabertooth 12 RC Dual Motor Speed Controller

Turns out if the Receiver is powered, it sends power TO the Speed Controller (undocumented feature). Since the Speed Controller was also powered, it fried.
Robot Marketplace sent me an immediate replacement and I was good to go.

Just thought I'd give an update if anyone is using those particular pieces. DON'T power the Receiver; it receives power through the two RC cables that connect to the ELEV and AILE.
