USB to Bluetooth/Wifi
« on: August 07, 2009, 04:55:06 AM »
This proposal is quite simple in concept...

Wireless USB via Bluetooth or WiFi.

Essentially I just want to pass information from 1 USB port to another USB port wirelessly.

Every Bluetooth/Wifi device I see requires you to install software on both devices.  Would it not be possible to make a dongle which would  essentially just pass information from device A to device B via a wireless connection (without installing special software on both devices).

[USB Port A] - [Wireless Dongle A] - [Wireless Dongle B] - [USB Port B]

Anyone know if this can be done?

Yes I understand that's how it works now.

The computer device could have software installed, but the other device is not cable of having software installed.

Nikon D80 Digital camera.

Currently it is connected to a mobile computer via a USB (computer) to mini B (camera) cable.

Everytime you take a picture with the camera the camera control software (on the computer) stores the image in a directory on the computer.

This model of camera does not have Bluetooth capabilities.

But to me it seems like if it can be done wired, it should be able to be done wirelessly.

Man.... USB = software for the host....
And for wireless, I've tested some asus wifi usb modules
Kinda thing that Asus and USRobotics are the best for the networking devices... as far as I tested
For whom the interrupts toll...

Come again?

What is the best solution for this?

Obviously data and some power is being sent out of the camera through the mini B port.  What's the best way to send this wireless?
