Two Questions regarding PS2 Controller to Axon
« on: December 04, 2008, 03:53:13 PM »
I plan on getting an Axon for Channuka as well as Programming Microcontrollers in C by Ted Van Sickle, so I will be able to further augment my robotics knowledge

1. Where is the uninsulated wire (the plain wire, without rubber coating) in the hardware, or is this just for insulation, or is this just mine?

2. And what are the things on the header pins called? The female white connectors.

Depends on the company selling them. Molex calls them 'Molex Connectors', Tamaya 'Tamaya connectors' . . . some call them female headers, female connectors, female pin housing, snap connectors, etc.
This should help:

There is housing for all wiring sizes. Figure out your wiring gauge (measure it), then check the housing datasheet to see if it's compatible.

here they are:

i would not advise buying them if you intend to use them on the Axon though. i only used them because it's what i had in my parts box.
the header pin spacing is too close to fit them anywhere but on the edges of blocks of pins.
far better to follow Admin's original advice on connectors.

For connecting to the Axon, the connectors on this page should work better for you...
