Title: CELLPHONE HACK
Post by: Spoil9 on December 11, 2007, 03:23:22 PM
I know google is a wonderful search tool, but where I am able to get on line is controlled. Any site with the word 'hack' in it is blocked.
My question is... Does anyone know where I can find info on hacking a cellphone (like a pre-paid phone you can buy today) to use it with a robot project?
Here is what I am trying to research...
An alarm that when it goes off will use this cellphone hack to call my cellphone. Then I know that if I ever get a call from this number that something is wrong.
This can then be used to upgrade my car's alarm, my house security system, my future guard robot idea, etc.
I have near zero programing experence now, but when I get back home I plan on buying a microcontroller and experimental board and learning to program.
Thanks for any help.

This is one way to do it:

Or you could just get a cell phone that is a robot ;-)

This isn't exactly what you are asking about, but you might find some useful stuff in it, or other ideas of stuff to do with your hardware.

What about if I used a bluetooth adapter. Like one used for a headset or in a car that has the option to redial the last called number?

Hi all,

I've just made a mobile phone hacking project last week. It works like this; an mcu is connected to a mobile phone, and the phone can be placed anywhere you want. then, when you 'miss call' the number, the phone will detect your call, take a picture with its camera, and then send the picture back to you.

the wiring to the phone was pretty simple, though. we just soldered some wires on to the phone's keypad tracks. that way, we can control the functions of the phone by connecting two (or more) wires together. and an LDR is placed on the keypad LED to detect when the phone receives a call.

so yes, the process is pretty much irreversible. ie you cant use the phone as a normal phone anymore if you do it this way. anyway, it was not the intention of the project to make a robust survaillence device. we just wanted to demonstrate the use of MCUs and probably get some high school kids to do the same.

feel free to ask anything :D
