Can any one tell me how to make a strange shape thats eliptical from the top view, but some what cone shaped from the front in google sketchup? The shape I want to make looks somewhat like the trunk of the robot in this video....

I've never used Sketchup, only AutoDesk.
But If I were to do it, there are two ways I know of:
- use splines to make crazy shapes
- make your shape, then using rounding/fillets
