RF data trasmission
« on: June 18, 2011, 03:25:10 PM »
Hi, I'm about to start on project in which i will need data transmission...
I need to transmit only few bytes in radius of 2-5 meters...
I need some super cheap and the most compact way how to do it. Bluetooth and wi-fi modules arent very cheap and LED trasmission wont probably also work, because 2 "nods" wont see each another...RF seems to be the best way...I've read RC tutorial on this page, but this variant isnt "compact enough"...
Are there some RX and TX ICs in good price?
Some good tutorial how to use those ICs will be handy too...

Thanks

Are the two things going to be pointed toward each other?  What about IR?  As in the type used in remote controls.  I believe RF is omnidirectional while IR is... semi directional... depending on the IR LED used.  (Is an IR LED considered an LED?  It doesn't emit visible light...)

LED - Light emmiting diode. Light has many "colors"(or better frequencies) and one of them is infrared....Thats how I understand It....
And no IR wont work... or at least will be unreliable. I can temporary put something between receiver and trasmiter and It will be malfunctioning and I dont want that.

And I've alredy found tutorial (I always found one when i'm done with searching and post question on forum...so iritating.. :))
Here it is: http://www.narobo.com/articles/rfmodules.html
And Transciever for 9euro - http://www.sos.sk/a_info/resource/c/RTX-MID-3V.pdf
