How long does your laptop battery last?

Mine is about 2 hours if set in max performance.
How about yours?
I have a friend who said he once had a VAIO laptop and it's battery lasted for about 12 hours! Is this true?

Yeah, you can buy a bigger battery for your laptop. eg: Most have 8 LiIon cells, well you can buy 12 LiIon cell batteries.
And some sony vaios only have 13" screens...
I can imagine if he would set his laptop slow, and have this big battery, that he'll last for 12 hours...

But that's only an extreme situation... no gaming or anything intensive.
I get 2 hours - 2,5 hours with everything at max.

It all depends on the spec of the laptop and what you are doing with it.

eg.
a 3.02 ghz processor consumes more power than a 1.70ghz processor. Also they get hotter which means more cooling is needed (mechanical motion from fans uses lots of energy).
hard drives, cd and dvd rom drives being used eats your batteries very fast.
Any usb devices being used will probably be using power from your laptop battery.
if your laptop has a small memory, you will be using more virtual memory and paging therefore your hard drive will be working more than you think it is.
