Title: bluetooth
Post by: Skwint on March 10, 2011, 02:44:28 PM
I have an axon2 and I have found this:

http://www.justop.com/catalog/bluetooth-modules/dell/broadcom-bluetooth-2.1edr-module-bcm2046.html (http://www.justop.com/catalog/bluetooth-modules/dell/broadcom-bluetooth-2.1edr-module-bcm2046.html)

It looks good - cheap, low power, small form factor, supports UART and most of the work happens on chip, so in principle I think I can attach it to my axon.  In reality I don't actually know.  The datasheets are a bit lacking in detail for me. ( http://www.datasheetdir.com/BCM2046+download (http://www.datasheetdir.com/BCM2046+download) )

Could anyone with a stronger grasp of electronics (I'm a software guy) tell me if that thing looks like it would wire up and work fairly easily, would I need to write drivers for it, or would I find it to be a complete nightmare with half a dozen break out boards and heaven knows what else needed as well?

Still learning here ;)
Thanks in advance!

Hi,

The datasheets are a bit lacking in detail for me.
Probably because it's a product brief and not a datasheet.
The page says "module only", so you'd probably have to wire it yourself (make your own break out, so to speak).
