Robot path planning in unknown enviroment
« on: April 23, 2014, 03:49:18 PM »
How can I signal a robot to reach my location by sending a wireless signal?

Suppose I have a couple of receivers on the mobile robot which the robot can use to determine the location from which the signal is coming, how do I then make the robot come to my location without giving any further commands. The robot doesn't have any in-built map using which it can navigate the environment.

A few thoughts:

1. You could use the receivers to triangulate the source of the signal by determining the strongest signal direction.
2. You may need to have some type of obstacle avoidance, such as LIDAR or ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles.  Path planning around an obstacle is rather challenging if done right.
3. If you direct the robot using light, then it can simply turn toward the brightest direction and navigate that way.
