Title: found a resonably cheep robot base
Post by: blackbeard on September 26, 2010, 09:05:47 PM
for $25 that's pretty good. looks like it has a nice prototyping space too. i'm ordering it so when it comes in i'll tell you if it's a piece of junk or not

Go and combine it with Ro-Bot-X's uBotino prototype and you'll have an easy-to-use $50.00 robot, although I suppose you'd miss out on the learning aspects.

well it has a pretty big protoboard on it so someone could likely build the mcu for the $50 robot right onto it. the code would need a bit of changing since the $50 robot uses servos though and you would probably need an h bridge ic but that's not too much to do.

Do not buy. I got it from LMR directly and the drivetrain is a peice of junk. Who uses collars to hold driveshafts together? Finally the tolerances on all the parts are horrible.

If you not in a rush or just want to play around it can't be that bad...
No one ever accused DX of carrying top of the line goods....
It's just that it can take months for them to actually deliver the items!

Hi,

I particularly like the description

Quote
for DO-IT-YOURSELF
- You can assemble it with your own hands depending on the manual
- Two 260 motors
- 4.5V driving voltage
- Powered by 3*AA batteries (not included)
- Comes with Chinese manual

So if you don't read Chinese, you need to use someone else hands???

(At least it's not a book about wan*royal job* off ;D)
